Smoothest panna ice cream is the perfect companion for pure Swiss cream with a velvet-textured blackcurrant sorbet. The intense violet color of the sorbet comes from the sun-kissed berries harvested in France where they enjoy the best weather conditions. Puree of natural blackcurrants is the heart of this recipe rich in fruit, which brings out both the vivid flavour and acidity of this tasty blackcurrant variety. To this the Mövenpick Maîtres Glaciers add a refined touch of natural-fruit succulence and extra dimension of texture with pieces of blackcurrant emphasizing the exquisite fruit aroma. A summer delight in the unforgettable Mövenpick style.

Enjoy the pleasure of a recipe with no artificial additives or colours!

Blackcurrant

More about blackcurrant...
Cassis, or blackcurrants, are extremely valuable berries, rich in vitamins, particularly vitamin C, minerals and fibre. They ripen in early summer and are sold until the middle of August. Water-soluble pigments, anthocyanins, give the peel its intense purple-black hue. Blackcurrants have a tart and mild or bitter flavour. The berries are usually processed into syrup, liqueur, jelly or candies.

Blackcurrant is perfect with...

Sweet dishes and desserts:
  • Cocktail with Campari, freshly squeezed orange juice and a twist of orange peel
  • Blackcurrant kir (champagne and crème de cassis/blackcurrant liqueur)
  • Mixed berries gratin
Savoury dishes and foods:
  • Venison medallions*
*Use ‘givré’ berries for decorating.
Place berries in the freezer until lightly frozen, then dip in sugar. Serve (and eat) before they thaw.
